Hyatt has a long history of strong relations with our unions, and we respect the rights of our associates to choose whether or not to join a union. We regularly reach agreements and have productive relationships with unions including the Teamsters, SEIU, Electrical Engineers and Workers United.
In July 2013, Hyatt and UniteHere reached an agreement that laid the framework for the resolution of longstanding disputes between the two organizations, including the end of UniteHere’s boycott of Hyatt. Since then, our associates represented by UniteHere Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles and San Francisco have approved new contracts that provide retroactive wage increases and maintain quality health care and pension benefits through 2018.
In several markets across the country, UniteHere is continuing its efforts to organize Hyatt associates.
